AUSTIN: ‘Restore Rundberg’ Region Still Facing Human Trafficking Assaults Despite $1 Million Police Grant

By KVUE.com on January 11, 2014—
“The Austin Police Department arrested a man Saturday for two counts human trafficking and one count of sexual assault of a child.

Chris Edward Dancer, 35, has prior convictions of aggravated promotion of prostitution and compelling prostitution under the age of 18.

Those crimes took place just east of the Restore Rundberg region. Police say Rundberg is known its prostitution arrests.

According to our partners at the Austin American-Statesman, a year after Austin police landed a $1 million federal grant to target crime in Restore Rundberg, statistics show reported crimes have not changed much in the neighborhood within the Restore Rundberg initiative.

Jan. 11 is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.”
