“After Montavius Rakeem Postell of Orlando was busted for cocaine in March, he made 25 calls in 12 hours — most of them to a little girl he turned into prostitute, authorities announced Wednesday.
Postell, a gang member also known as King, told the then 15-year-old to sell herself for sex to raise the bond money he needed to get out of the Orange County Jail, officials said.
Postell, 22, and his roommate, alleged accomplice 48-year-old Michael Kempfer, enslaved the girl with drugs and violence and pimped her out to johns across Florida, according to a statewide investigation into human trafficking made public Wednesday called “Operation Safe Harbor.”
Postell was arrested Tuesday night in a hotel in Tampa.
Kempfer was charged in the Polk County Jail, where he has been incarcerated after a major prostitution sting in May.
In that undercover operation 92 people were arrested, including the girl and Kempfer, who drove her to an undisclosed location to have sex with someone for money, officials said.
Kempfer claimed he was not involved in “pimping her out” or in human trafficking, the Sheriff’s Office said.
He also told officials he was to be paid $20 to $30 for driving the girl and he “figured” she was an underage prostitute, an arrest report said.
Kempfer was arrested for one count of driving on a suspended license and one count of deriving proceeds from prostitution. He was sentenced to 40 days in the Polk County Jail.
“Polk County detectives established a rapport with the 15-year-old girl and she was subsequently identified as a victim of lewd battery and human trafficking,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
Polk officials worked with Orange County gang detectives to identify Postell as her suspected pimp.”
