Former inmate and UW alum team up for panel on solitary confinement as human rights abuse

SEATTLE, USA —On Thursday, Human Rights Society UW hosted a panel on “The Injustice of Solitary Confinement” in Gowen Hall, featuring panelists Jose “Neaners” Garcia, who shared his first-hand experience in solitary confinement, and Reed Klein, a UW alum who wrote his senior honors thesis on solitary confinement…

Garcia, raised in Mount Vernon, spent the majority of his life incarcerated after being charged with a murder case while still a minor.
