Texas Launches Campaign to Curtail Human Trafficking in State

 June 3, 2014—
“Authorities have unveiled a new statewide campaign using billboards and public service announcements to curtail human trafficking in Texas.

Federal officials joined with local and state leaders Tuesday in Houston to also announce the FBI has released a list of the most-wanted traffickers in the state. A $10,000 reward is being offered for tips that lead to an arrest.

Officials say they also want to encourage the public to report any instance of trafficking.

The FBI says Texas ranks second in the nation, behind only California, in total calls to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center. The center since 2007 has received more than 9,500 calls on Texas cases.

Texas is regarded as a major hub for international human trafficking because of its interstate freeways, international airports and its shared border with Mexico.
